Rosetta felt his fingers in her hair and she turned and shoved him so that he would fall backward onto the couch.
"Don't try to pull that hunter hunted shit in here." She warned him. "You're right, you can't kill me, but I don't have a problem killing you after the shit you did to me." She snapped. "You're lucky I'm feeling merciful."

Shaun stumbled on to the couch and he smirked at her. He straightened up and stood.
"Then O' Merciful Rosetta." he started moving closer. "I have one favor to ask."

She would have thought he was goofy if he was normal, funny even.
"Are you serious?" She asked him, exasperated. "What is it?" Why was she even entertaining him? She should have shot him by now.

Shaun reached for her hair once more and he lightly tugged it once more.
"A lock of thine hair of course.' he whispered, eyeing her. "I can't kill you...and I definitely don't want to mutilate're perfect."

Rosetta looked at him like he had lost his mind, which was quite strange given the circumstances. She had never looked at him like that, not even when he was attacking Jacob. She wasn't perfect, not in any way. What the hell did he mean by that? Was he just trying to unsettle her? Because it worked.
"You don't want to mutilate me?" She asked him quietly, almost a joke. It had seemed like he sure as hell wanted to. She took her knife out of her pocket and cut the strand he was holding, letting it go. "There."

Shaun let his hand fall when she cut the strand and he pocketed it. He tilted her chin up towards him and he smirked. He didn't date, but maybe if he had a normal upbringing, made better choices....he would have considered it.
"Thanks." he whispered. "Now tell me no again."

Rosetta froze when he touched her. She had frozen up the first time too. She couldn't help it, didn't know why she did it. In the Army she didn't get touched much, at least not kindly, and she liked that. When Shaun touched her, and he did it so easily, it unnerved her. She parted her lips to tell him no, but no sound came out. She was used to him wailing on her, but when he was being kind it just...made her speechless.

Shaun watched her, but she didn't speak. He moved closer to her, his other hand moving on her arm, snaking up to her shoulder.
"Tell me..." he whispered.

Rosetta's whole body tensed when his hand moved higher. No. Tell him no. He was so close that she could feel his body heat, smell his aftershave. She let her mind wonder for a moment. What if he had asked her to dance at the bar, gotten her number, took her on a date. He was handsome. They could have gotten along and fallen in love, maybe. She didn't even know if she was capable of that.
"Tell you what?" She whispered, blinking as she came back to reality.

Shaun was watching her carefully, squinting his eyes as she spoke. He moved to wrap his fingers around her throat, but it was a loose grip.
"Tell me 'no.'" he whispered, his lips barely brushing against hers, that's how close he was.

Her eyes closed as she felt his breath against her lips. Her fingers twitched, and for once in her life when his fingers curled around her throat she didn't immediately go on the defensive. She could tell him no and he'd stop, just like he did in the container. He was a monster, but even he had his limits.
Or I could just have a taste...

"No." She whispered, her lips brushing against his with the word. But she didn't know if she was saying no to telling him no, or saying no as in telling him to stop.

Shaun was holding on to that last bit of humanity he kept locked away deep inside, but when he heard her speak, it was a bit easier. He leaned forward a bit, his forehead brushed lightly against hers before he pulled away.
"Alright." he whispered.

Rosetta suddenly felt cold, rubbing her hand over her arm. Jesus, the man had nearly killed her, she had seen what he had done to Jacob in living color, and she was still considering doing...something with him.
"You should probably go." She told him.

"You're probably right..." Shaun whispered. He felt...odd. He had never felt anything like it before, and it made him...sad? He headed towards the door and he looked at her once more. "Goodbye, Rose."

He left her apartment, driving towards the container. He wrapped her hair in the cloth, keeping it together before he placed it with the other jars. It stood out, but he liked that...she stood out herself anyway.

It took Rosetta a moment before she realized she didn't know his name. Everyone always called her Rosetta, or Thomas. No one had ever shortened it before, but in a way it suited her. She was a prickly bitch. She scoffed, running her hands over her face. Get a grip.

A few weeks later Shaun was still thinking about Rosetta. He knew he didn't leave her his name, but it was better that way. He was nothing special, and she'd probably forget about him...he'd be a bad memory before long.

That morning he was taking a walk in the park. While nights he stayed at the container, during the day when he wasn't working, he spent outside of the house. Even with his own place he found it difficult to stay in a home setting. Years of fear and abuse would do that he figured.

Rosetta ran by him on the left, earbuds in her ears. She was wearing her running clothes and a hat, but it was clearly her. She very rarely ever paid attention to the other walkers, and today was no exception. She was thinking about the nameless man. God it bothered her that she had never asked him.

Shaun raised an eyebrow at the jogger, no way... He watched her for a moment and he knew it was her. He debated on following her, but couldn't. He kept going in the opposite direction, cutting through the wooded area.

Rosetta prepared to loop around. She liked going the long way, through the woods, so when she turned she headed off onto the dirt path. She came around a rather large tree and collided with someone, losing her balance as she fell. When she looked way. She groaned. She liked New York because it was so fucking big she never ran into people she knew. Until now.

Shaun was too lost in his thoughts, that he didn't see the jogger. They collided, and he stumbled, falling backwards as he stared at Rosetta, yellow eyes wide.
"You're following me." he teased, getting to his feet and helping her up.

Rosetta shook her head, withdrawing her hand from his after she was on her feet.
"I think you're following me." She told, looking at him sharply. Was he planning on taking her again?

Shaun noticed the look and it was enough to cause him to step back.
"I'm innocent...for once." he whispered. "Didn't think I'd ever see you again..."

Rosetta didn't step back, he had given her enough room.
"For once." She repeated, almost laughing. The idea was just...insane. "Same. What's your name?" She asked him. It had been bothering her.

Shaun tilted his head. Was that a laugh? He wondered what that sounded like.
"Oh...uh, Shaun Barrett." he answered. "Wait...why?"

Rosetta for once was speechless. And then she just decided to be honest.
"It had been bothering me that I didn't know it." She told him plainly, shrugging. "I wouldn't have thought it was Shaun. Lucifer, seemed more appropriate."
