Marcus was head of the police department in Bridgeport. Being the chief, he was relatively unopposed. He had his hands in everyone's pockets, and he controlled much of the surrounding police forces too. He had lost his only son early in life, and he had never gotten over it. Instead he had gotten a rebellious, rotten girl, that had never amounted to anything in his eyes. But maybe she could make it up to him.
"Sir?" The nurse said over the line, thinking she lost him.
"I'm here. A boy you said?" He said, writing this down. "Does it mention who fathered the child?"
Rosetta had stood up to pee in the middle of the night when she realized her nightgown was soaked. She stood puzzled for a moment in the bathroom light, looking back toward the bed.
"Shaun? I think my water broke." She told him casually.
