Shaun x Rosetta...this is gunna be a rollercoaster bwahahaha

Shaun shook his head.
"I didn't ask..." he whispered. "If anything, the best case scenario, I can stay here...worst case...I stay here and they shoot me in the back."

"What if we shoot them first?" She asked. "Then would you be free to come home and not have to kill even more innocent people?"

Shaun chuckled softly and he shook his head.
"We're talking about a multi-billion corporation." he said. "We shoot one, five more will pop up."

Rosetta was so tired of crying. She felt helpless.
"Okay." She said softly, tempted to tell him to just stay in hiding.

Shaun could already feel the tears and it was one of the things he hated about their phone calls.
"Rose..." he whispered. "You don't have to keep doing this...You know that right?"

Rosetta swallowed hard. She kept feeling like he was pushing her away, when she should have technically be the one doing that.
"What do you want me to do? Try to replace you with Sanders?"

Shaun shook his head.
"I just..." he tried to think, unsure of what to say next. "I don't know...I'm sorry."

Rosetta didn't even bother hanging up the phone before she threw it so hard in the wall it got stuck, breaking as it shattered against the sheetrock. She pulled the covers above her head and curled into a ball.

Shaun heard the rush of air before the line went dead and he hung up his phone. He tugged on his hair tightly, resisting the urge to punch something. He got up and gathered his things, moving outside. He fiddled with his keys for a moment before heading to the airport, calling his contacts.

He took the job, and headed to the oil fields in Saudi Arabia. A new company, more competition, something Garrett Westbrook hated. All Shaun had to do was blow it up. Simple enough right? It did go well, until they were mowed down by the guards. They managed to escape and rig the area to explode, but Shaun was injured.

Rosetta had actually flown to Russia. She managed to track Shaun down, but it took a while. By the time she found out about Saudi Arabia, the attack had happened, and it was a huge red flag. She arrived that evening in the private sector hospital owned by Garrett, although of course she didn't know that, to see Shaun.

Shaun was in the ICU, in pretty bad shape. A bullet pierced his lung making it difficult to breathe. He was brurned, bruised. The only thing missing were broken bones. He slept most of the day away, wishing for something...anything to end this.

Rosetta was lead to him after lying. They were married now, she had told the nurse she was Rosetta Barrett. She crawled ever so gently in next to him, her side melded to his as he slept.

Shaun stirred slightly as he felt movement next to him. Without realizing it he moved to nestle against Rosetta, but the pain of shifting caused him to fully wake up, seeing Rosetta fave to face. His hand shook as he reached out to touch her.
"I'm dreaming..."

Rosetta woke immediately when she felt him stir, smiling softly as his fingers touched her cheek. She had forgotten how good he felt.
"No, I'm here." She whispered, putting her hand gently over his. "No dreaming."

Shaun gave her a small smile. He had questions, but instead he stayed quiet, enjoying her presence. After a moment he asked, "How'd you know I was here?"

"I used to be an amazing tracker, remember?" She whispered. "Tracked that Serbian over 12,000 miles, then put one between his eyes. Don't worry, I left my gun at home." She teased. "Once I got to Russia it was easy to follow the trail of destruction. You've been busy."

Shaun smirked and he shook his head.
"Yeah well...it's the one thing I'm good at..." He mumbled. "Besides...those oil tycoons deserved it...greedy bastards."

Rosetta shook her head and put a finger over his lips, running her fingers gently through his hair.
"I missed you." She whispered.

Shaun smirked against her finger and he slowly moved to wrap his arms around her, ignoring the pain.
"I missed you too..." He whispered.

Rosetta hugged him, her head on his shoulder. She listened to his heartbeat as she thought for a moment, her fingers on his chest.
"Wherever you go next, I'm coming with."

Shaun raised his eyebrows at her, tilting his head to get a better look at her.
"You are sure?" he asked.

Rosetta thought it was cute that he had to turn to look at her he was in such disbelief.
"Yes." She said softly. "Otherwise I'm worried you're going to try to dump me off on Amon."

Shaun shook his head at her.
"That beefcake is no match for you." he chuckled. "But..."

She shook her head, knowing he was going to argue.
"I've killed a lot of people." She whispered, her face turning serious. "Of all ages, with all different types of family backgrounds. I can't take any of it back, even the ones I want to take back. And I know it's the same for you."

Shaun frowned as she spoke, and he leaned in to kiss her forehead. He knew he would take it back if he could, make different choices, do different work.
"Yeah..." he whispered.
