Shaun x Rosetta...this is gunna be a rollercoaster bwahahaha

"Don't talk to me that way." She said softly, but her voice was strong and steady. "You know how I felt about our team. You're the one that held me back that day, from hunting them all down."

Amon scoffed and he threw his hands up in the air.
"Where is he then, Rose, hmm?" he asked. "You can't just vanish. I know you know where he is."

"Amon, honestly, fuck you." She scoffed. "You tore my home apart, you went through all of my personal files, I agreed to have a tracker on my vehicle. What more did you want from me exactly? You're the one that called all cryptic that morning and spooked him, saying you had a lead on the case."

"So what I was just supposed to roll up on your front lawn and shoot him in front of you?" Amon asked in disbelief. "I knew you two had something going on. I wanted you to find out from me, not from anywhere else."

Rosetta rubbed her eyes, feeling the familiar sting. She didn't like lying to Amon of course, but she loved Shaun. She was a damned good liar.
"It didn't hurt any less." She said quietly.

Amon shook his head at her and he moved to sit down in his chair.
"Rose...I'll find him. And I'll kill him myself." he said. "I won't ask you to help, but I know deep down this is what you want to do to."

Rosetta leaned into Amon, wiping her tears away before they fell.
"Thank you." She whispered. "I talked to Desmond today. He said he hasn't heard from him either and I believe him."

Amon looked up at Rosetta and he frowned softly. He reached up and caressed her cheek tenderly.
"How's the kid holding up with all of this?" he asked. "I heard he's on tour again."

Rosetta smiled slightly, shaking her head.
"He bounced back. I mean we're all still traumatized of course, but I think it distracts him. Eliza moved with him, I heard."

Amon chuckled and he shook his head.
"The kid's tough...didn't think he had it in him in all honesty." he mumbled. "But...people are full of surprises."

Rosetta thought of Shaun and nodded, sighing.
"How's Tifa doing?" She asked him. It seemed like everyone had paired up after the discharge.

Amon shrugged his shoulders.
"She's been supportive." he said. "Don't really know how she puts up with me..."

Rosetta laughed, nodding.
"Me either, honestly." She teased. "Gotta give her credit for that."

Amon nodded and his phone began to ring. He answered it, frowning.
"Yeah, I'll be there in a minute." he said before hanging up. He glanced up at Rosetta and added, "I gotta go...how about we have dinner soon?"

Rosetta nodded. She liked Amon, even though she felt like she knew him less than she used to.
"Sure, that sounds good. Let me know when." She told him.

Amon smiled and he nodded.
"Alright, I'll call you..." he said, leaving.

Shaun was getting ready to sleep when his phone rang. He didn't recognize the number, but he recognized the voice that answered.
"You can come home now." the man said. "All charges, dropped."

"Why? What do you want this time?" Shaun asked. "Shit isn't free in life."

"Another assignment." he said. "And you'll be reinstated into Arcadia, of course, when you're done."

Rosetta went home hours later, and after tidying up a bit she got into the shower and then into bed, missing Shaun. It felt so empty without him next to her. Fuck, did he have to do what he did? She groaned, willing herself not to think of it as she tried to fall asleep.

It was fucking crazy, Shaun couldn't do it. This was definitely something to set him up for failure, even if he somehow managed to get away with it, he'd be found out within days, fuck, even weeks. On the one hand, it would be...exciting...on the other...Rosetta. If what the man said was true, he was a free man, he could just go back home, but would Rosetta even want to see him? No...probably not.

Rosetta woke up around three in the morning, unable to sleep. She reached for the phone she kept taped under her nightstand and dialed Shaun's number.
"Hi." She whispered when he answered.

Shaun immediately answered. He had just woke up and he was getting ready for his flight.
"Hey..." he whispered. "How have you been?"

Rosetta rolled onto her tummy, her eyes closing.
"I miss you. It's hard to sleep without you." She whispered.

Shaun moved to sit down on the sofa, frowning.
"I miss you too..." he whispered. Should he even bother telling her about the charges?

"I saw Amon today." She said quietly. "His CO was telling him he needed to stop hunting you down, that the charges had been dropped. Is that true? Are you coming home?"

Shaun raised his eyebrows and he shook his head.
"It's conditional..." he whispered. "I'm pretty sure it is. The people that arranged my assignments, arranged everything...they want me to do another job."

Rosetta sighed, sitting up as he spoke.
"Another job?" She whispered, feeling sick. "What if you don't do it? Then they'll terminate you?"
