Cloud was glad Aeris didn't blow up his phone. He found work here and there, but nothing permanent which did make him travel around a lot, so he didn't always get to spend time with either of them. That night was one of the few nights he had off and he spent it with Sora.

When Sora told him to listen, he raised his eyerbrows, trying to get a glance at the door, but he couldn't see from where he was sitting. He did feel a pang of jealousy, but he quickly bit it down, feeling it was for the best. Whatever they had was working, for now at least.
"How about a pizza?" he suggested, deciding not to ask her about her date. If anything, he could later when Sora went to sleep.

Aeris nodded, thinking that sounded good.
"Where do you think we should get it from?" She asked Sora, hauling out the phonebook.
Sora had actually inherited just a bit of Cloud's temper. He scowled at his mother for a moment, he had really wanted his parents to work out. But just like his father, he quickly tramped it down.
"Uhhh...Papa Murphy's?" He asked.
Aeris nodded, and she put the order in. Papa Murphy's was a pick-up place, so when it got be close to ten minutes later she got up and grabbed her keys.
"I just want to play with Rabbatero." Sora announced, looking at Cloud. "Is that okay? You two can go."

Cloud glanced over to Sora seeing the small scowl. He ruffled his hair playfully and stood up when they were going to head out to pick up the pizza. He glanced over at Aeris and back at Sora and shrugged.
"Sure. We won't be gone long." he said.

Aeris nodded, locking up behind them once they left. She headed down the stairway and got into the car, starting it up. It smelled just a bit like cologne, Damon had rode with her to the bar earlier.
"Did he seem out of it to you?" She asked Cloud, concerned.

Cloud got into the car, smelling the cologne, and he shrugged it off. At least the guy smelled good, right?
"Yeah...I think he's mad that you're dating." he said glancing at her. "Was that what it was?"

Aeris raised her eyebrows in surprise. Had they really both heard that?
"Yeah, I've gone out twice with him." She told Cloud. She had nothing to hide. She and Cloud were both so fucked up, it wasn't like they had a future. If she thought they did he would be her first pick. "It's not serious, and no before you ask." She smirked slightly. "I'm not fucking him and I'm not introducing him to Sora."

Cloud raised an eyebrow, kind of surprised at how blunt she was about it. He nodded slightly and he looked out the window, chewing the inside of his cheek thinking.
"Well..." he started, wanting to choose his words carefully. "If it ever gets to that point...I want you to be happy."

Aeris pulled into the parking lot, putting the car in park. For some reason it kind of hurt, just a bit, to hear him be so okay with it. She didn't own Cloud and he didn't own her, and she knew she would want him to be happy if he met someone that could tame him too. But still.
"Be right back." She told him, not giving him any sort of response. She picked up the pizzas and gave them to him to hold while she drove back.

Cloud watched her head inside and he frowned. No...this was bigger than just what he wanted. He needed to think about what was best for Sora. He knew he would always be his father, and that he would always be there for him, but a stable figure would help him a lot more than he ever could, right?

Then why did he feel like shit.

He held the pizza in silence as they drove back to the apartment.

Aeris looked over at him when they parked in the apartment garage, and a second later she leaned over and kissed him. It was different than usual, not as hard or lusty, just soft. She broke it a moment later and smiled, looking carefully at him.

Cloud raised his eyebrows, but he accepted the kiss. He gave her a smirk and he shook his head.
"I'm never sulky." he said nudging her playfully. He got out of the car and headed inside. "Dinner time, kiddo." He called to Sora, setting up on the table.
