Shaun x Rosetta...this is gunna be a rollercoaster bwahahaha

Rosetta sighed in relief, nodding.
"Okay, good." She said, smiling up at Shaun. He really was handsome. It was nice to talk to someone besides Sanders. She cared deeply for Amon, but right now she just wanted space. "You're a really great cousin you know. My family would never fly overseas for me."

Shaun shifted uncomfortably in his seat when she called him a great cousin. No, stop feeling guilty, you were following orders. you got paid, you aren't starving...
"Well...he's all I have for family..." he said.

Rosetta nodded, understanding.
"Same." She said softly. "They're all I have for family too, in my book." She whispered. "Maybe we can all go out for a beer once he wakes up."

Shaun nodded, glancing up at Rosetta. He probably wouldn't take them up on that offer.
"Yeah..." he moved to get up, needing some air. "I think I'll step out for a bit..."

The next few weeks were hard. Rosetta talked with Shaun daily when she checked on Desmond. She didn't know how to apologize to Amon for blaming him. Anyone would have stopped. She slept in his room most nights and comforted him when he had night terrors. That morning she was still in bed by his side, her arm draped around his torso.

Amon was glad for Rosetta's company, glad she didn't run off to do anything crazy. He wanted revenge as much as she did, but there was nothing. Just the dead woman, and she was a dead end as far as he could tell. He moved his hand over her shoulder, trying to calm his thoughts.

Rosetta stirred when she felt his touch, waking up slowly. She squeezed him once.
"You're thinking again. Stop it." She whispered. "We get discharged today."

Amon glanced down at her and he chuckled.
"Did you smell the burning?" he joked. "I'm not looking forward to it to be honest..."

"Why not?" She asked, frowning. "Are you going to take the leave we got offered?" She asked. Technically they were getting out of the hospital as active duty marines, but they were offered a leave of absence and even honorable discharge if they wanted it. "No, there was no burning." She smiled. "Your eyebrows were furrowed."

Amon chuckled and he shook his head.
"I don't know..." he mumbled. "I haven't decided yet..."

"I think I should." She admitted. "Amon, I didn't mean it. When I told you it was your fault, I was just angry. I know anyone would have stopped, that's part of the job. I just felt so guilty. I'm sorry."

Amon shook his head and without thinking he pushed his lips against hers before she could finish talking. He didn't know why he did it, but considering everything maybe taking a chance would be worth it.

Rosetta knew their relationship pushed the limit a bit. It wasn't completely inappropriate but it wasn't completely allowed either. The kiss though, well...she was extremely surprised. She softened and returned it though, her fingers brushing his neck.

Amon was glad she returned the kiss, and he kissed her a little more passionately. He sighed against her lips before pulling away, lightly running his thumb along her cheek.

Rosetta blushed when he pulled away. She smiled shyly as she shook her head at him.
"I've been trying to get you to do that for years and you waited until a near death experience." She whispered.

Amon chuckled softly and he shrugged his shoulders.
"Sometimes that's all it takes..." he whispered. "Fuck the ethics rule."

Wilton stirred in bed, feeling a pounding in his skull. He struggled to move around in his bed, calling out for someone, anyone. He could still hear the gunfire, still hear the shouting.
"Someone..." he groaned out.

Later, Tifa stopped by. She had lost a few men in her line of work as a detective and she was worried about Amon. While she was there, Rose asked Shaun to go to coffee. She needed to get the hell out of the hospital for a while. The place was packed so she ended up sitting next to him at a table, her side nearly touching his.
"I heard they expect Desmond to wake up soon." She smiled.

Shaun didn't know why he said yes for coffee, but he needed company. He was hyper-aware of how close he was to Rosetta.
"Yeah..." he said softly, sipping his coffee.

"I think I'm going to take that leave." She told him. "Go back to the states and find other work." She sighed. She just wasn't sure she could handle the death toll anymore. "Are you flying back once Desmond wakes up?"

Shaun looked over to her and he nodded at her question.
"Yeah. He'll probably stay with me while he makes his recovery." he said. "A part of me hopes he takes the leave as well."

Rosetta nodded, looking over at him.
"Well even if he doesn't, if he has night terrors or anything you can call me whenever for help. We'll try to keep him distracted. "

Shaun nodded, having a few of those himself. He tried not to think about it, he had come a long way...
"Yeah...I know all about those..." he whispered. Just then his phone rang. He answered, listening to the doctor on the other end. WHen he hung up he looked over to Rosetta. "Speak of the devil, someone's awake."

Rosetta's eyes widened before she broke into a big smile, finishing her coffeeyes.
"Now I'm actually glad to be going back to the hospital." She laughed.

Shaun chuckled softly and he nodded. He drove them back to the hotel when they were done and saw a flailing Desmond fighting with the nurse to get out of bed.
"Please take things slow, sir!" she said.

"I got him!" Shaun said moving over to Desmond. He helped him up and Desmond nudged at Shaun with his elbow.

"Yeah, he's got me."

Rosetta immediately went up to Desmond and hugged Jim, shaking her head at him.
"I'm glad you're awake, Sanders has been driving me crazy." She joked.
