Shaun x Rosetta...this is gunna be a rollercoaster bwahahaha

Amon saw the tears and he handed her a tissue before kneeling down in front of her. He toon her hands and looked up at her, a frown on his face.
"I know this is hard to hear...but we're going in for the arrest tomorrow when we have all the information to lock this man up for good."

"Don't touch me." She whispered, recoiling immediately. She threw the tissues on the ground and stood, leaving the photograph to flutter down onto the floor. She headed out into the parking lot when the world began to spin, her head a cluttered mess as she dropped to her knees before becoming sick.

Amon let her go, shaking his head. A few of the guards rushed out to help Rosetta seeing her get sick, offering whatever they could to help her.

Shaun meanwhile was growing more and more nervous by the minute. Should he call her? Should he just leave?

Rosetta eventually felt well enough to drive home. Was it even her home? Jesus, what hadn't he lied to her about? She gripped the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles turned white. When she got to the house she walked in the door and took her shoes off just like normal. Everything was how she left it, everything looked the way she left it. So why did she feel like she had just stood in the center of an F10 tornado?

Shaun heard the door and he prepared himself mentally for whatever was about to come next. He was hoping for nothing, that it was something else related to the attack, but he had a sinking feeling. He eventually made his way out to greet Rosetta.
"Hey, what'd they find out?"

Rosetta looked up at him as he turned the corner. She thought about it, for a second. What it would have been like if Amon had just let her go, if she'd had killed him when she wanted to dig deeper in the beginning. She saw a gentle hand splayed over her stomach as he turned her over during love making, his smile and laugh when she told a joke, his playful banter with Desmond. She parted her lips, but nothing came out, her throat working.
"They're coming for you tomorrow." She said a moment later, finally looking up into his eyes.

Shaun looked at her, his expression blank. His fists clenched and unclenched, trying to work around the best scenario.
"I see..." He said. "Rose..."

He bit his tongue, nothing would make a difference so why should he even try. Instead of finishing his sentance her turned to the crawlspace and toon out the dufflebag.

Rosetta turned away and walked down the hall. Her side of the bed was still unmade, her body imprint still colliding with Shaun's. She walked over and sat down on the bed on her side. She had never noticed how much the bedroom smelled like him before. She picked up the pillow and pressed her face into it, and for a moment everything was quiet and okay in the darkness. And then she let out the most broken sob that it boarded on a wail, pressing the cotton as hard into her face as she could because why not? She was already drowning. She wished she had died that day, because this was worse than the pain and the coma.

Shaun watched her move into the bedroom and it took his entire willpower not to follow after her. If he told her he didn't know it was her or Desmond? That if he had known who would be where before hand he wouldn't have accepted the job. He would have rather starved and died on the streets than experience the heartache of knowing what he had done to her...to his family.

His willpower failed him and he found himself walking towards the bedroom. He heard the sob and he stopped just shy of the doorway. He couldn't see her, and he was sure she couldn't see him either.

"I didn't know it was you...not until it was too late..." He whispered.

Rosetta heard him. Just barely, but she did. Did it make a difference? He had killed her entire squad, save three people. Devastated families, left children without parents, husbands without wives, wives without husbands. Jones had two little girls that would never get to have their father walk them down the aisle.
I didn't know it was you.
"I saw you." She whispered. "You were the one, you were so close to me I could see the design on your mask." She breathed, knowing his build better than anyone now. "You shot me in my femoral artery and left me to die."

Shaun leaned against the wall, his eyes cast down on the floor. They stung as tears filled up and fell down his face. He wuicjly wiped them from his face, trying to pull himself together.
"I know..." He managed to say. "Nothing I can say or do will ever change what I did."

Rosetta didn't turn around, she couldn't. If she turned around she would never be able to hold it together.
"Was it just for money?" She asked quietly.

Shaun nodded, despite her not seeing him.
"Yes. It was a bit of that and...something else..." He got out. How coukd he explain to her that he loved the thrill of killing? Practically fed off of it now.

She closed her eyes, didn't give any indication she had heard him.
"Do you have your things?" She asked, her eyes falling on a picture on the nightstand. She had her arms wrapped around his neck, her cheek pressed against his as she hugged him from behind. But he was looking at her, as though she was his world.

Shaun shifted slightly and he grabbed his bag, throwing it over his shoulder.
"Yeah...I'll go..." he whispered. "Rose...I..."

He didn't know how to finish. Saying sorry was meaningless.

She stood finally and turned to face him. She moved around the bed and stepped closer to him, handing him an envelope.
"This should be enough to get you to a country that doesn't extradite." She said softly, trying to keep her heartbreak out of her voice. "I'll get a burner phone tomorrow, don't try to contact me. I'll reach out to you when I can."

Shaun shook his head at her and pushing the envelope back to her.
"I'm okay..." he whispered. His fingers twitched slightly, wanting to pull her close, but he kept himself in check. "I'm heading to Moscow...I'll be okay..."

Rosetta fiddled with the envelope for a moment, so torn. Would she ever see him again? Should she even want to ever see him again? She brought her fingers up to touch his cheek, tears filling her eyes. If she went with him, did it mean she forgave him? Could she be angry, torn apart, but still love him?
"I don't want you to go." She whispered, her lower lip shaking.

Shaun's eyes stung with tears, leaning into her touch. He closed his eyes, memorizing the way she felt, the way she looked, the way she sounded. He placed his hand over hers and he shook his head.
"You deserve better..." he whispered.

She sniffled, smiling just a bit.
"I wish I hadn't taken that call. You were right, I should have said I was busy." She laughed lightly, the tears falling. It was such a terrible, fucked up situation. "You better go. I don't know if he suspects that I would warn you."

Shaun shook his head at her, but he remained silent. He didn't want to leave, but he knew he had to. He leaned in and kissed her tenderly, sighing softly. He pulled away before he psyched himself out and left the house.

Over the next year, Rosetta had limited contact with Shaun. Amon was after him, and she suspected Amon knew she tipped Shaun off. She didn't want to risk Shaun's safety because she missed him. She would message when she could using burners.

She was still a wreck. On one hand, she had killed men, women, and children, but on another it had only been on orders or in self defense. She loved Shaun, but he had massacred her squad.

Shaun managed to do alright for himself in Moscow. He worked off the books for some "interesting" characters, probably somehow related to the Russian mob, but he didn't ask questions, and he kept his mouth shut, which meant he was good employee.

Meanwhile Amon had hit a brick wall from up the chain. Every mention of Shaun to the authorities began to lead to closed off answers.
"Sanders!" Officer Randalph shouted. "I already told you, all charges have been dropped!"

"By who?!" Amon shouted. "He's fucking guilty! He murdered innocent people!"

"It's out of my hands, son. If you keep going, I'll have no choice but to contact your CO, and have you suspended." Randalph said. "It's a waste of resources."

Rosetta stopped by the base that day, getting out of the car. She wore a black tank-top with her hair natural, and dark wash jeans. She looked pretty even dressed so simple. She asked to see Amon and was taken to him just in time to hear the cussing.
"You okay Sanders?" She asked him.

Amon glared at Rosetta, and he shook his head at her.
"There's no case." he said. "That fucking bastard is going to get away with it! Did you do something, Rose? Because I swear to god, if that's true..."
